SUCCESS STORIES

 Hi Shirley
I'd just like to thank you so much for the review you gave me many moons ago for my book Forever 21. Your excellent review, along with other good feedback, inspired and encouraged me to produce an Audio CD Forever 21 with friends and also a further book, Chasing Rainbows. Thanks so much- I'm sure that you inspire and encourage a great many writers, such as myself, to go on to produce further works. Thank you
Kind Regards, Phil Hope

FEATURE:

Apple to Highlight Self-Published Books

By LESLIE KAUFMAN

Yet another sign that self-publishing is making inroads into the traditional houses: On Tuesday Apple will include a feature that organizes a group of popular self-published e-books together and then gives them prominent display on iBookstore.
The feature will appear under a banner titled “Breakout Books” and remain on the iBookstore’s main page for at least two weeks. This kind of display, known as “front-of –the store” attention, is greatly coveted by publishers because it helps books get discovered, driving sales. After two weeks, “Breakout Books” will remain a permanent feature on the site, though not always with such high-profile display.
Apple, which has long carried self-published e-books and displayed the most popular among them, has incentive to give self-published authors a boost, partly because of price.
Self-published authors often sell their books for $2.99 or less, which is significantly less than books sold through traditional publishers. The savings are popular among some readers.

“Apple is helping to shape a brighter, more democratized future for book publishing,” said Mark Coker, the founder of Smashwords, a leading distributor of digital books.

Mr. Coker said that many of the 70 featured titles were Smashwords titles. He said the books were nominated to Apple’s editorial team, which has final say on the selections, based on criteria including sales performance and reader reviews.

Allbooks Reviews INTERVIEW:

Please state your name and location.  (city and State or Province, Country)

Tammy Vallieres MacRae – Woodstock, Ontario, Canada

Susan Lucente-Rizzo – Brantford, Ontario, Canada

Tell us the title and publisher of your book:

 Jeffrey finds his way

Balboa Press - 2012

Tell us about yourself:

Tammy is doing what she loves-sharing her gifts, experiences and knowledge with the world through education and workshops.  Her goals are to create a resource that would support children during their academic journey and awaken them to their life’s purpose.  Her hope is that someday every child realizes WHO they are, so they can become WHAT they were born to be.

Susan is passionate about creating a balanced learning environment where all children are taught to their individual strengths.  Where a child’s full potential is recognized, nurtured and prized, and their skills are highlighted positively so as to inspire greatness and self-worth in themselves, their peers, and their community.

When was the book released?

 Spring of 2012

Balboa Press – A division of Hayhouse International

Give us an overview of your book.

Jeffrey finds his way is a story and colouring book about an angel who looks down from heaven’s gates and sees children in crisis.  Jeffrey convinces God that he can help “schools on earth” become more like the “schools in heaven,” where all children shine brightly and love learning regardless of their differences.  This little, inspirational story was created to help students identify their worth within the classroom and highlight each student’s value.  It has become a useful teaching tool to support all learning styles and teach compassion towards diversity.

What inspired you to write this book?

The inspiration came from our personal, life journeys…through our struggles and achievements, the peaks and valley’s and the experiences derived from our roles as teacher and parent; a lifetime of parallel experiences that fueled our inner growth and inspired this “Joint Passion” to make a difference.

How is your book different from other books in this genre?

Many of us have forgotten that we are destined for greatness.  Jeffrey finds his way allows everyone, not only children, the opportunity to rediscover their existence…to “find their way” and to live the life they were always intended to live.  Our accompanying website and program aims to bring Teachers, Parents, Students, Academics and Practitioners (worldwide) together to discuss, share and explore the importance of WHO they are and WHERE they come from.

When we clearly understand that, we can openly explore WHAT we were born to be and its significance to our overall health, happiness and well-being.  Spirituality is the KEY that unlocks the pain and suffering that currently plagues our society in relation to social, economic, environmental and global issues.

We have forgotten where we come from and that we are spiritual beings. When we deny the source that fuels our existence, we cut off the most important “life support” that aids us in our triumphant growth and development.

Where can people buy your book?

Jeffrey finds his way is available on the Balboa Press website, at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Are you working on another book? If so when do you expect it to be published?

We are currently working on a “junior-level” book that supports the beliefs and principles of the first book; Jeffrey finds his way.  This book is entitled,

The COMPASSionate Crew finds their way, too.  It is a story of 4 animals, Beaver, Owl, Dolphin and Fox.  Each blessed with different traits, skills and personalities who embark on separate yet parallel journeys on earth where their “task” is to KNOW themselves so that they can “find their way”.

If you self published, what advice can you give to fellow writers?

Perseverance is KEY, coupled with a strong internal conviction and the focused belief that what you have written has value and will benefit those who will read it.

Can you share one of your marketing successes with us?

Networking is a MUST to success.   For us, the opportunity to present our wares at the “Oxford Creates 2012” trade and gift show in Woodstock, Ontario led to various introductions that have subsequently allowed us to make great strides in sharing our “Jeffrey message” with the world.  It is also where we met Shirley A. Roe, Managing Editor and Founder of Allbooks Review, which in turn lead to our joining forces.  Since then we’ve received a beautifully and highly recommended book review by Emily Jane Hills Orford, as well as secured a 12-month Advertising Agreement in the hopes of spreading our message worldwide.

How did you find Allbooks Reviews and what are you hoping for in your relationship with us?

We found Allbooks Review while we were promoting our program at “Oxford Creates 2012”.

Was the low cost a surprise? What other things would you like Allbooks Reviews to offer writers?

The low cost was both intriguing and in the end won us over.  Since then we’ve come to realize that the “value received” far outweighed the monetary fees incurred to showcase our book, Jeffrey finds his way.

Thank you for this interview and best of luck with your book.
